Samal Gorge

Karatau mountains or Mangyshlak highlands do not impress with their height and snow tops. The mountain massif is composed of very ancient sedimentary permo-Triassic rocks and is divided into three parts - East Karatau (highest peak - Bessoka mountain + 556 m) and Western Karatau (highest peak - Otpan +533 m) and Karatauchik - the most western mountainous uplift. The Highlands are cut by many large and small gorges. In the waterless deserts of the region, some gorges are the custodians of the beautiful spring water and rare thickets of hawthorn. The springs become full, sometimes forming waterfalls in the spring. Unfortunately, most of the springs dry up in hot seasons. A rare exception to this rule is the Samal Gorge, where a small river flows throughout the year. The gorge, looping, forms a series of picturesque cascades, over which the life-giving moisture gurgles and gleams with solar sparks. The gorge from time immemorial has been covered with hawthorn, thorn, reed and various medicinal herbs. You get lost in the reality of space, getting into these places: just had a harsh and hot wasteland and, suddenly, the juicy colors of greenery and the alluring murmur of a cool spring. A real oasis called Samal.

However, not everything is so good in our kingdom. In recent years, I have rarely been to this gorge, for Samal began to be actively visited by the local population and as a result of this a lot of unpleasant garbage and painted cliffs with autographs. In fairness it must be said that in 2011, probably under the guidance of local authorities, garbage was removed. It's gotten a little cleaner, but how long?  Still the painted wall remained. Have not yet reached ...
