Mount Sherkala, covered with legends, is a natural symbol of the Mangystau region. From a certain point of view, it looks like a giant yurt set by mythical nomadic giants in the bizarre folds of the Akmysh area.
Historians say that at the top of the mountain there was once a fortified city. The fortress served as a stone bastion for many centuries, restraining the aggressiveness of strangers. In the beginning of the 13th century Sherkala was the residence of Genghis Khan's son Dzuchi. Currently - a favorite place for tourists and guests of the region.
